Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day – May 24
May 21, 2025
On May 24th, we recognize Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day, a time to shed light on serious mental health conditions that are often misunderstood and heavily stigmatized.
Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders affect the way a person thinks, feels, and experiences the world. Psychosis can involve hallucinations, delusions, or disorganized thinking—and while these symptoms can be deeply distressing, they are also treatable, and recovery is possible.
The goal of today is awareness, compassion, and connection. By learning more and opening up conversations, we can help break down the stigma and create a more supportive and understanding community for those living with these conditions.
Let’s remember:
- Schizophrenia is a medical condition, not a character flaw.
- People experiencing psychosis deserve support, not judgment.
- Early intervention and access to care make a real difference.
- Recovery looks different for everyone—and hope is always on the table.
Let’s commit to a world where mental health is treated with the same respect and urgency as physical health.
